Rebecca has over 25 years of systems engineering, information security, privacy and compliance experience. Rebecca is an entrepreneur; she is CEO and Founder of The Privacy Professor® consultancy she established in 2004, and is Co-Founder of Privacy Security Brainiacs, an information security, privacy, technology & compliance services founded in 2020. Rebecca is also co-founder of 2 other SaaS services businesses, and maintains ownership of all the intellectual property still used by them (simbus360.com, hipaacompliance.org, and all derivatives thereof). Rebecca serves as an expert witness, and was an Adjunct Professor for nine years while also building and managing her businesses.

Rebecca is currently finishing authoring her 20th published book (Security & Privacy when Working from Home & Travelling), dozens of book chapters, and hundreds of published articles covering information security, privacy, compliance, IT and other related business topics. Rebecca is a member of the NIST Cybersecurity for the Internet of Things (IoT) program development Subject Matter Expert (SME) team member, supporting the development and application of standards, guidelines, and related tools to improve the cybersecurity of connected devices and the environments in which they are deployed. Rebecca serves on the Advisory Boards of numerous organizations. Rebecca was a SME member of the NIST Privacy Framework development team for 1 ½ years. Rebecca led the NIST SGIP Smart Grid Privacy Subgroup for eight years, and was a founding member and officer for the IEEE P1912 Privacy and Security Architecture for Consumer Wireless Devices Working Group.

Rebecca is host of the VoiceAmerica radio/podcast show, “Data Security and Privacy with the Privacy Professor.” Rebecca also serves as an expert witness for information security, privacy, and compliance issues. Rebecca was an Adjunct Professor for the Norwich University Master of Science in Information Security and Assurance (MSISA) program for 9 years. Rebecca is frequently interviewed and quoted in diverse broadcasts and publications.

Rebecca has a B.S. in Math & Computer Science & an M.A. in Computer Science & Education. Rebecca is a longtime member of ISACA, Infragard, IAPP, ISSA, (ISC)², IEEE & ACM.

Noah Herold

Noah graduated with a degree in Computer Science in May, 2020. Noah has been involved in security and privacy projects all his life. He is currently Web and Applications Development Director for Privacy Security Brainiacs, also providing support for general business development decisions and projects. Noah also owns and operates a farm in north-central Missouri, and restores distressed properties.
